UK: ALP Abroad news

Paul Smith, President ALP Abroad

If you're heading to the UK in '07, you can still help elect a Rudd Labor Government.

Date:  20 February 2007

The next meeting of ALP Abroad will be at the New Moon hotel at 88 Gracechurch Street EC3V 0DN, at the entrance to Leadenhall Market (nearest Tube bank) at 630. At the meeting, we will:
  • set the date for AGM (probably March 20th) and call for positions;
  • organise campaigning for NSW election on March 24th; and
  • start long term planning for Federal elections

The polls are showing is a real chance of a finally getting rid of Howard. They say that he is even in danger of losing his own seat of Bennelong. If he lost, he would become the only second Prime Minister to lose his seat after Stanley Melbourne Bruce lost his in 1929.

Interestingly, Bruce was the last Prime Minister to attack head-on the workplace fairness laws that have been central to the making Australia one of the world fairer societies.

Please come our next meeting and get involved. If you can't make it but are interested in being involved in our election planning, get in touch.
