WA: State Secretary's Report

By Bill Johnston, WA Branch State Secretary

State Conference, National Conference, Membership renewals.

Date:  30 March 2007

Preparations are now well underway for WA Labor’s next State Conference, which will be held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex on 2 and 3 June. State Conference is the supreme governing body of the ALP in Western Australia, and this year it will debate both the Party’s policy platform and rules.

The 2007 State Conference will include reports from every Cabinet Minister in the Carpenter Labor Government and provides an important opportunity to showcase our achievements to the community.

There will also be a series of events running along side State Conference. Over the weekend, there will be a number of informative seminars organised only for Party Members, and the highlight of the State Conference weekend — the Conference Dinner — will take place on the evening of Saturday, 2 June 2007 featuring a special guest speaker.

If you would like to provide some suggestions on how we can make State Conference an even better experience for you, please fill-out our feedback form: http://www.wa.alp.org.au/lhsmenu/feedback.php or telephone Party Office on (08) 9328 7222.

More information about State Conference will be released in the lead-up to the event.

National Conference
Party Members should note that the ALP National Conference will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour from 27 to 29 April 2007. All Party Members who are able to be in Sydney at this time can be involved as a volunteer or as a conference observer. Go to http://www.alp.org.au/features/conferenceinfo.php for more information.

Renew Your Membership
Your ALP membership expires on 31 December each year, so now is the time to renew your commitment to the Party and maintain your membership continuity.

Never before has the fight against John Howard’s arrogant government been more critical than right now. We need to defeat John Howard to end his attack on working people. Australians can’t afford John Howard’s workplace agreements.

Renewing your membership will help Labor defeat the arrogant Howard Government.

You can renew your membership by completing the form online at www.wa.alp.org.au/action/renewal.html or by telephoning Party Office on (08) 9328 7222.
