Labor legend Gough Whitlam turns 91 today...For the record, here is what Kevin Rudd had to say during a press conference:
JOURNALIST: Finally, I think it’s Gough Whitlam’s birthday …
RUDD: It is, Gough’s 91, and I won’t sing happy birthday on the camera because this is a sensitive audience with some artistic standards. But can I say down the camera: happy birthday, Gough. You’ve been a pioneer for the Australian Labor movement and a pioneer when it comes to reforms in higher education, making it possible for working families to send their kids off to university, and your birthday is to be celebrated by the country. Thank you.
